David Howes – Artist Biography
 
David Howes was born on 7th March 1957 in Skipton, North Yorkshire. For more than 32 years he has called Coleraine, Northern Ireland home, where the surrounding coastline and maritime atmosphere have continued to inspire his artwork.
Painting has been a lifelong passion for David, beginning as a hobby and growing into an important creative outlet throughout his life. Now retired, he finally has the time to devote fully to his art, using painting as both relaxation and expression, helping to keep his naturally active and creative mind focused.
 
David is especially drawn to painting boats and maritime scenes, capturing the character, colour, and history found in working harbours, fishing vessels, and coastal life. His work reflects a deep appreciation for the sea and the timeless beauty of nautical subjects.
 
Through his paintings, David combines patience, observation, and passion, creating pieces that are both personal and evocative of the places and subjects he loves most.
